AlisLog vs MyFitnessPal

Scanning a barcode
shouldn't cost$80 a year.

In 2022 MyFitnessPal moved barcode scanning behind Premium, and a lot of people have been quietly annoyed about it ever since. AlisLog scans free, keeps macros free, has no account to make, and costs a quarter as much if you do decide to pay.

Where MyFitnessPal
is better.

Three real ones. If any of these is the thing you need, it is genuinely the right app and you should stay.

01 The database is enormous Twenty years of crowdsourced entries. Obscure regional products and store brands are far more likely to already be in it. AlisLog leans on USDA, Open Food Facts and AI instead — excellent for most things, thinner on the long tail.
02 Android and the web AlisLog is iPhone only, and honestly so. If you're on Android, or you log from a laptop at work, this comparison ends here.
03 The ecosystem Every fitness device, every recipe site and every trainer's spreadsheet already talks to MyFitnessPal. That gravity is real and a small app does not have it.

What switchingactuallylooks like.

01
Your history does not come with you
There is no MyFitnessPal importer, and pretending otherwise would be the exact kind of thing this app exists not to do. You start on a clean day. Export your MyFitnessPal data first if you want to keep it — weight history is the part people actually miss, and you can re-enter a year of it in a few minutes.
02
Set one number
Height, weight, activity, goal. It gives you a calorie target immediately, then measures the real one from your own data over the next two weeks and corrects itself.
03
Log the way you already do
Scan a barcode, describe a meal in a sentence, photograph a plate, or type it. The first week feels slower because nothing is in your recents yet. By week two it's faster, because your history beats any database.
04
Decide later
Everything above is free, with no trial clock and no card on file. Premium adds unlimited AI logging, adaptive goals and household sync when and if you want them.

Free forever.
No account.

Scan, log, and see your macros without paying anything. Premium is there if you want it, at a quarter of what you're paying now.
